About Fourth and Miles
A two-minute college football game day, once a day: tailgate, map challenge, stadium pulse, follow the ball and a rivalry roast to finish.
What the game is
Every day brings one new set of rounds, the same for everyone. Find the stadium on the map, read the clues, keep your eye on the ball, then share your card with the group chat and see whose side talks loudest. It is free, there is no account, and a full game takes a couple of minutes.
How the questions are made and checked
- Questions are written in tiers, from a gentle opener to a deep cut, and each one leaves you a foothold to reason your way to the answer rather than relying on pure recall.
- Every map answer is linked to a Wikidata item, and an automated check compares our coordinates with Wikidata before a question can ship. Anything more than two miles off fails the check and is fixed by hand.
- Facts are reviewed against public sources. When the record changes (a renovation, a renamed stadium, a new conference), we update the question.
Chirps: the house rules
The rivalry roast is part of the fun, and it plays by a few rules:
- Banter is about programs, traditions and fan bases, never about individual players, coaches or people.
- No slurs, and nothing about race, religion, gender, sexuality, disability or tragedies.
- Chirps are jokes, not reporting. They never claim that a real program, staff or player broke rules or laws.
- The default tone is PG-13; a spicier tier is opt-in.
- If a line crosses the line, report it through the contact page and we will review it.
A note on the audio
The game’s sounds are synthesized or AI-generated (using ElevenLabs). None of the voices imitate real broadcasters, announcers or public figures.
Open-data credits
The map and its facts stand on open data. Thank you to:
- OpenStreetMap contributors, for the map data (ODbL).
- OpenMapTiles, for the vector tile schema.
- OpenFreeMap, for hosting the map tiles.
- Natural Earth, for public-domain map data.
- Wikidata, for the coordinates we check every stadium against (CC0).
